DefenseScoop obtained a document that outlines the Chief Digital and AI Office’s latest organizational structure.
“I think now we’re in an even better position to focus on what the big rocks are, which are really around how do we lower the barriers for entry,” Liz Young McNally told DefenseScoop.
The Army plans to spend about $646 million total on the MDAC system project in fiscal 2025-2027, according to budget documents.
“The place where I think we should be moving faster is counterspace. We need to protect the joint force from the targeting and sensing that China, in particular, is fielding now,” Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall said.
With continuing resolutions limiting work to be done on new programs, the Army is using current capabilities to reduce risk to speed development once funding becomes available.
The final version of the conferenced bill between the House and Senate Armed Services Committee alters prior legislation in favor of a cyber intelligence “capability” rather than a “center.”
“With the backing of APFIT, these companies have an opportunity to push their innovations over
the finish line,” Heidi Shyu said.
“We are thinking about how we might use it. We think the first, most logical, given the payload volume, … would be some type of rocket cargo delivery mechanism,” Lt. Gen. Philip Garrant said.
