A U.S. Marine Corps AN/TPS-80 Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar assigned to Marine Air Support Squadron 3, Marine Air Control Group 38, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, operates at the Multi-Function Air Operations Center as part of Steel Knight 24 at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Dec. 10, 2024. The AN/TPS-80 G/ATOR is a ground-based air radar system which increases 3rd MAW’s combat power and lethality through superior air surveillance. Steel Knight is an annual exercise that takes place in multiple locations across the Southwest that allows I Marine Expeditionary Force to train as a full Marine Air-Ground Task Force and better integrate with joint and naval forces.
