DOD Cyber Crime Center’s Terry Kalka on securing defense critical infrastructure

Terry Kalka, Director of the Defense Industrial Base Collaborative Information Sharing Environment at the DOD Cyber Crime Center, discussed the importance of managing defense critical infrastructure, which includes sectors beyond the defense industrial base, such as energy and transportation. He emphasized the need for patching systems, maintaining network perimeters and adopting zero-trust principles to defend against and contain adversaries. Kalka also highlighted the significance of leveraging the vast amounts of data collected by the DOD for decision-making and operational efficiency, advocating for a robust identity, credential, and access management strategy and clear guidelines for data sharing.
