UPDATED: Gen. Bussiere still set to retire from Air Force

Editor’s Note: This story was updated after initial publication to reflect that a notice posted on Congress.gov indicating that Gen. Thomas Bussiere had been renominated to be the next vice chief of staff of the Air Force, was determined to be erroneous.
DefenseScoop previously reported the renomination, based on the notice posted on Congress.gov and an email from a Pentagon spokesperson that appeared to acknowledge that the nomination had been submitted. However, the notice posted on Congress.gov was later determined to be inaccurate.
After our story was published, a spokesperson from Air Force Global Strike Command issued the following statement: “Gen Bussiere publicly announced on Sept. 30 his decision to retire. The AFGSC change of command is scheduled for Nov. 4.”
