U.S. military and Pentagon officials expect to prioritize cyber and communications gear, AI, data integration and other multi-domain warfare assets next month at the Technical Exchange Meeting they’re hosting to meet with select industry representatives looking to showcase their latest products and services.

According to a special notice published Monday, the next TEM — officially set for May 28 — will provide “private industry with an update on the threats and challenges” that undersecretariat of defense for research and engineering-led programs aim to resolve in current and future operating environments.

Registration information and related links are included in the notice.

U.S. citizens must apply for clearance from the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Maryland, where the event will be held, by May 13. The deadline for interested foreign participants is set for April 28.

The Defense Department’s Mission Capabilities directorate, under R&E, will lead the industry engagement.

“Mission Capabilities drives efforts to compete with adversaries through the development of capabilities that support the joint warfighter including, but not limited to, Contested Logistics, [counter-command, control, computing, communications, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and targeting or] C-C5ISRT, and Multi-Domain Collaborative Autonomy,” officials wrote in the special notice. “Mission Capabilities coordinates these efforts through multiple programs with independent pathways for industry participation in experimentation, prototypes, and capabilities that explore new concepts.”

This one-day TEM will offer attendees multiple networking opportunities and a chance to connect directly with DOD officials regarding modern technical priorities and gaps, and explore new partnerships with government and military end users.

The notice indicates that the overall classification for this event is at the “Secret” level, and attendance is limited to individuals from nations in the Five Eyes intelligence alliance.

Broadly, Mission Capabilities is the Pentagon’s hub that identifies and fields technologies associated with fires, command and control, logistics, and other capabilities to drive the military’s information advantage across the joint force. The team previously held a TEM at the same location in January.
